Family Caregiver Support Program
The Massachusetts Family Caregiver Support Program has been established by Governor Jane Swift and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs to assist families in locating and identifying resources to address eldercare issues. To access this new program, simply call 1-800-AGE-INFO, or go to www.800ageinfo.com. Support and information is also available at the Senior Center. Support Groups at the Center
We currently have active support groups focusing on issues facing individuals & families dealing with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and stroke. If anyone is interested in being part of a group on bereavement or other topics, please contact Kristine Arakelian LCSW, MPH, Outreach Coodinator.

Hot Lunch Program
A hot lunch is available Monday through Friday at Noon at the Center. Pre-registration is necessary. This program is made possible in part by funding from the Older American's Act as granted by ESMV, Inc. Suggested donation is $2.50

Ways to Learn about Programs and Services at the Senior Center

Friendly Visitor Program
This program offers companionship to homebound elders and nursing home residents living in Andover. Trained experienced volunteers visit elders in their homes each week. If you are interested in becoming a Friendly Visitor or know of an elder in Andover who could benefit from this companionship service, please contact Kristine Arakelian, Outreach Coordinator.

Nutrition Program
Hot Lunch: A balanced noon meal is available at the center Monday - Friday at 12 Noon. Reservations must be made a day in advance. Suggested donation is $2.50. Meals on Wheels are available to those who are unable to access the Senior Center lunch site. This program is provided for individuals 60 years of age or over who are homebound, unable to leave home without help, unable to shop and have no reliable assistance to do the shopping. Meals are provided to those in real need, regardless of income. For further information or for an assessment of need, please contact Kristine Arakelian, Outreach Coordinator. Cooking classes, the brown bag lunch series, and special events are also held on an ongoing basis.

Outreach & Counseling
Information and referral, answers to questions regarding health insurance, transportation options and housing, individual counseling are just a few of the social services available at the Center. Support groups for Stroke, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's meet regularly at the Center. Family members may obtain information and support to assist them in caring for an aging parent or relative.

Health Clinics
Nurses are available at the Senior Center every Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for blood pressure checks and counseling. Call the Center for time and dates of clinics at other locations.

Social Day Program
The Social Day Program offers a supportive environment for adults facing life changes, enabling them to live at home and to remain active within the community setting. A registered nurse and other caring professional staff work with families and other health care professionals to meet the individual social and medical needs of participants and their families. Daily programming includes companionship, individual & group activities, a noon meal, morning & afternoon snacks, health monitoring, and support services.

Tax Voucher Program
Eligible elders may have their real estate taxes reduced by $675.00 after completing 100 hours of service to the community through a municipal or school department.

Transportation
Shuttle buses which access the downtown shopping area as well as the Ballardvale section of Andover are available to elders at no cost. Schedules are available at the Senior Center which is on both routes. EZTRANZ offers a minibus service which is available to elders and those with disabilities. Information regarding the application process, schedules as well as volunteer medical transportation program may be obtained by contacting the center.
